Tequio Community Farm was started in January 2015 by Hunter Flynn and Isabel Quiroz. The farm is located on Ridgewood Ranch in Willits. “Tequio” is a Mexican concept which refers to a collective work done by the members of a community with the sole intention of benefiting the place in which they live. The importance of the tequio lies not only in the material contribution it provides to that space, but in the feeling of coexistence and integration it brings to its community members.
On less than ¾ of an acre Hunter and Isabel supply the community with year-round, fresh, seasonal produce, fruit, and grains using a method of farming that is human powered, sequesters large amounts of carbon and engages neighbors in the art and science of small-scale, intensive food production.
